Interior Design Diploma
Graduates of the Interior Design program become specialists in the
relationship between people and spaces. They learn how the built environment,
designed properly and inventively, can improve working conditions, social
discourse, and the general quality of people's lives. Students examine
two-dimensional design and three-dimensional thinking. They study drafting and
detailing, interior materials, space planning and human factors in design,
design and colour theory, and visual communications. Students relate theory of
design and three-dimensional conceptual skills to the development of
environments such as a minimal dwelling for a single person, a condominium and
residential design, and corporate, retail and adaptive reuse projects for
diverse populations. With the demographic and economic changes society is
undergoing an aging population, small business growth, ecological
concerns interior design is once again a field of opportunity. Students
may graduate with a 2-year Diploma in Interior Design, a 3-year Diploma, and a
3-year Diploma.
Computer Assisted Drafting and Design Diploma
The one-year diploma program in Computer Assisted Drafting and Design offers
the student an opportunity to learn drafting skills and to master computerized
drafting an essential skill in manufacturing and construction planning.
During this intensive hands-on program, traditional manual drafting is taught as
well as advanced computer techniques. The first section of the curriculum deals
with terminology, principles of design, math, geometry and blueprint reading
with an architectural interest. The balance of the year includes Mechanical,
Civil, Structural and Electrical applications as well as 3D modeling and
rendering. Upon completion of the four-term program, students gain invaluable
on-the-job experience through the internship program. Graduates earn the skills
to secure employment as a draftsperson in Construction, Architecture,

Advertising Design Diploma
In advertising, the idea is everything. The program in Advertising Design
helps students develop strong, strategically driven, creative ideas. The

all media, marketing and business with a strong focus on the strategic problem

Computer Graphics Diploma
The program is committed to providing a solid foundation in good design
with emphasis on the skilled operation of the latest hardware and software used
in the graphic arts industry. The program's main focus is on the design and
production of print material but also includes an introduction to web page
design and multimedia. Computer graphics courses are taught in the practical
context of problem-solving, design considerations and real-life application.

Computer Animation Diploma
Computer animation is used extensively in television and motion pictures

Computer Graphic Design students learn design fundamentals ,lettering, typography and
graphic design. Students create colour composites and renderings and are
introduced to using computer applications and sophisticated software as design
tools. Students use these tools to create high quality layouts and designs.
Web Site Design This program provides
instruction in Web site design, which includes courses in e-commerce business
concepts; computer networks; Hypertext Markup; Web graphic packages, such as
NetObject Fusion, Dreamweaver and Fireworks; FrontPage, a Web site development
package; and JavaScript, a Web scripting language. E- Commerce Business
Concepts This course introduces the concepts and principles of electronic
commerce as it relates to business. Topics include the foundations of electronic
commerce; retailing in e-commerce; Internet consumers and market research;
advertising in e-commerce; e-commerce for service industries;
business-to-business e-commerce; intranet and extranet structures and
applications; electronic payment systems; e-commerce strategy and
implementation; public policy regarding legal, privacy and consumer protection

Markup Language Programming This course provides instruction in the
fundamentals, standards and compliance of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), as
well as an overview of Dynamic HTML (DHTML), Extensible HTML (XHTML) and
Extensible Markup Language (XML). Topics include creating HTML documents and
adding text, graphics and multimedia; using tables, frames and forms; designing
Web pages and scripting for HTML; working with styles and content control using
DHTML; positioning with DHTML; advanced DHTML features and structuring data with
XML.
Introduction to the Internet
This course introduces the concepts of the Internet. Topics include 4.0
networking and Internet basics; the application of protocols and addressing;
Internet servers and their applications; types of Internet clients and client
configuration; security fundamentals and working with the different levels of
security; Internet development through programming languages, databases, HTML,
and multimedia; Internet site design and troubleshooting; and an overview of
business on the Internet.
Web Design Fundamentals
This course provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skill in
planning and developing well designed, effective client-side Web sites that meet
an organization? business objectives and address appropriate audience
requirements. Topics include basic design strategies; developing business,
market, and audience analyses; identifying measures of success; planning and
designing the Web site; planning and designing Web pages; developing test plans
and procedures; launch and promotion strategies; maintenance, assessment and
continuous improvement procedures and an overview of client-side Web site types.
Client-Side Web Development This course provides instruction in the
design, building, and implementation of Web pages and sites using FrontPage.
Topics include Internet connections; FrontPage components; creating and
modifying FrontPage Web; the FrontPage editor; adding links and graphics;
creating tables, forms, and frames; using Image Composer to create compositions;
Web page development and managing and publishing Web Design Fundamentals
This course provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skill in
bitmapped and vector graphics using PhotoShop and Flash. PhotoShop topics
include working with file size and format; using Web-safe color palettes and
managing color; image masking and image compression; Graphics Interface File
(GIF) and Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) file formats; using tools to
alter photographs and applying filters and effects. Flash topics include
creating graphic elements; turning objects into animations; using action scripts
and sounds and putting Flash movies on the Web.
Web Scripting
This course presents the concepts and syntax of JavaScript programming for
adding dynamic content and interactive elements to Web pages. Topics include
JavaScript programming fundamentals, integrating JavaScript and HTML; creating
pop-up windows, adding scrolling messages and validating forms; enhancing the
use of image and form objects and using cookies, arrays and frames.
Client-Side Web Site Development This course provides instruction in
Dreamweaver, a Web authoring tool, in the design and imple-mentation of Web
pages and Web sites, as well as Fireworks, a Web graphics tool. Dreamweaver
topics include creating Web sites and Web pages, working with HTML, links and
URLs; managing images and text; working with tables, forms, frames, and colors,
using cascading style sheets (CSS), layers, and JavaScript behaviors and
managing Web sites. The Fireworks topics include creating canvases and paths;
working with drawing tools and text and using image mapping, animation features
and imported files.
Network Systems Technology The

Accounting Accounting I
This introductory accounting course presents the accounting cycle beginning
with journalizing transactiosn and ending with the production of financial
statements. Topics include accounting concepts and practices, recording
transactions, adjusting accounts, preparation of worksheet and the closing
process, payroll accounting, and preparation of financial statements for service
and merchandising businesses.
Computerized Accounting
This course is designed to provide in-depth understanding of Simply
Accounting, an integrated computerized accounting package, including payroll.
Topics include the general ledger, accounts receivable transactions, accounts
payable transactions, settin up company files, payroll transactions, inventory
management, end-of-period processing, and generating financial statements and
accounting reports.
Word Processing
This course presents Microsoft Word where documents are created, edited,
and printed. Topics include creating, formatting, and editing documents, table
features, creating styles and templates, column management, merge techniques,
pictures and drawing tools, creating forms and charts, linking with other
programs, and creating Web pages.
Database Applications
This course provides the study of the elements and principles of a database
management system using Microsoft Access. Topics include creating databases and
tables, entering and editing data, queries and filters, creating and customizing
forms, creating and printing reports, customizing fields and tables, data and
file management, relational databases, macros, and linking to other documents
and the Web.
Presentation Graphics and Information Management
This course provides the study of presentation graphics using Microsoft
PowerPoint and information management using Microsoft Outlook. Presentation
graphic topics include creating and modifying presentations, formatting
techniques, managing objects, creating templates, speaker notes, automating
slide shows, sharing information between programs, interactive slide shows, and
saving presentations as Web pages. Information management topics include using
and organizing email, setting up contacts, and scheduling appointments and
projects.
Spreadsheets
This course provides the opportunity to study ther operation and
application of Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet package. Topics include building a
spreadsheet, creating formulas, using functions, creating charts, maps, and
graphics, list and data management, worksheet and workbook management, creating
and printing reports, designing and creating forms, macros operations, data
analysis, and connectivity with other programs. Office Methods and
Procedures
This course provides instruction and training in administrative methods and
procedures in various office settings. Topics include human relations,
management of work, time, and resources, information management, front-line
reception activities, telecommunications in the office, and administrative
support services. Internship
The internship component of the program is the practical application of a
student's knowledge and skills in an industry environment. The industry shall be
directly related to the student's program of study. The internship requires
full-time day attendance working in the industry setting. The duration of the
internship is two months, during which the student must satisfactorily complete
a minimum of 180 hours of work experience.
Clinic Office Assistant
This program provides an overview of clinical office
principles, practices, and operations with focus on developing clinical office
assistant skills. Areas of study include medical terminology, anatomy and
physiology, clinical and laboratory procedures, word processing, and clinical
office scheduling and billing software.
Medical Terminology
This course introduces the foundations of the language of medicine and
develops medical vocabulary through the study of the structures, functions,
diagnostic procedures, pathology, and treatment procedures of the body systems.
Topics include medical terminology; the structure of the human body; and the
skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive,
urinary, nervous, integumentary, endocrine, and reproductive systems.
Office Procedures
This course provides an introduction to health care offices practices and
procedures. Topics include reception and booking appointments; patient records
management; telephone and mail procedures; health insurance plans; financial
records and inventory control; procedures manuals; health associations; and
legal responsibilities and ethical behaviour. Anatomy and Physiology This
course provides instruction in the organization and structure of the body
components (anatomy) and their functions (physiology). Topics include the study
of chemistry as related to the body; cell structure, tissues and membranes; and
the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, vascular, lymphatic,
respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.
Clinical Documents
This course provides training in correct transcription techniques and in
the preparation of clinical documents, including patient charts, records,
histories, and reports.
Clinical Software
This course introduces the application of clinical software for medical and
clinical settings. Topics include system requirements and installation
procedures; company and user setup; managing scheduling, files, and billing;
creating reports; and using utilities. Clinical Procedures
This course provides instruction in clinical procedures with focus on
assisting the practitioner during patient examinations. Topics include medical
asepsis and infection control; measuring vital signs and patient examinations,
eye and ear assessments and procedures; tissue healing agents; sterilization and
disinfection; minor office surgery; and emergency medical procedures.
Laboratory Procedures
This course provides instruction in medical laboratory procedures. Topics
include the clinical laboratory; urinalysis; hematology and blood chemistry;
medical microbiology; electrocardiography; radiology and diagnostic imaging; and
specialty examinations and procedures.

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills
to design, develop and maintain application software. This program focuses on
Visual Basic and Visual C++ programming languages and Access databases.

Networking Computer Networks
This course provides instruction in basic network concepts and
terminology, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, transmission media,
topologies, network architectures, protocol suites, network connectivity,
printing, network printing, network monitoring, administration and
troubleshooting.
Operating Systems
This course provides instruction in Windows
NT?Workstation. Topics include how to plan, install and configure Windows NT?
Windows NT?architecture and components, managing resources and security, Windows
NT?Workstation and TCP/IP connectivity, running applications, performance tuning
and troubleshooting Windows NT?Workstation.
Software Development Business Systems Analysis
This course provides the opportunity to analyze business requirements and
to define technical solution architectures using Microsoft?development tools.
Topics include evaluating business requirements, defining technical architecture
requirements, developing the conceptual and logical design for an application,
developing data models, designing user interfaces and user services and how to
derive the physical design.
Programming Logic
This course provides instruction on the fundamentals of structured program
logic. Topics include flowcharts and pseudocode, the components of structure,
modularizing a program, writing documentation, Boolean logic and comparison
operators, looping techniques and controls, array manipulation, sequential file
merging, modularization techniques, object-oriented programming and programming
graphical user interfaces.
Legal Assistant/ Secretary
This program provides an overview of legal principles,
practices and procedures. Areas of study include legal office procedures, word
processing, legal theory, and the practical application of legal

Family Law
This course provides instruction in family law and the application of the
of the various lasw. Topics include the components of marriage and divorce,
property division and support, the relationship of children to family law, and
the documentation and procedures related to family law.
Wills and Estates
This course provides instruction in the law governing wills and estates.
Topics include the preparation of wills, the powers and duties of lawyers and
executors, administration of wills, and beneficiary administration.
Corporate Law
This course provides instruction in corporate law, which governs the
formation and operation of business organizations. Topics include the
organizational structure of businesses, the responsibilities and liabilities of
corporations, directors, and shareholders, and the administration of corporate law.
Litigation
This course provides practical instruction in litigation and the
applicaiton of tort laws. Topics include the foundations of the legal system,
civil procedures and compensation, negligence and unintentional torts,
intentional torts, Legal Aid, and the preparation of documentation and
correspondence related to litigation. Real Estate - Purchase
This course provides in the laws governing real porperty and the purchase
of real property. Topics include the nature of real property, the purchase of
real property, mortgages, and the documentation and correspondence relating to
the purchase of real estate. Real Estate - Sales and Contracts
This course provides instruction in real property law and contract law.
Topics include how contracts are formed, completin an discharging contracts,
landlord and tenant legislation, real porperty sales, and the documentation and

a focus on developing managerial skills. Areas of study include accounting
concepts and applications, business principles and management, computer business
application software, sales and communication skills. Graduates will be prepared
to work in the business office of any organization, with a specialty in
advertising, marketing on the Internet, and direct marketing.
CAD Drafting This program is designed
to provide students with the knowledge and skills in computer-aided drafting and
design in order to enter into employment as a general draftsperson in the design
industry. Program emphasis is on the development of requisite skills necessary
to produce materials according to industry drafting conventions in the
disciplines of architecture, structural, HVAC, and mechanical design. General
education courses are included to prepare students to function within a
competitive employment environment.
Database Development & Administration (Programmer
Analyst)
The objective of this program is to provide the foundation
skills, core knowledge and computer expertise for positions ranging from
technical support and computer operations to database administration and
computer programming. Throughout the program, the essential business skills of
teamwork, research, analysis, oral and written communication skills are
