Canada is a wonderful country for the long time citizens and the short term visitors who tour, study, vacation live and work in this open modern democratic society. Canada is the world leader in education and humanitarian peace keeping, medical and logistical aid to the entire world in times of need.

Canada ranks first among the G7 countries in providing equal opportunities for immigrants of any ethnic or religious background. Canada is the world leader with immigration laws to assist the hiring of professional foreign labour and seasonal workers. Canada also has one of the world's most multilingual societies. Canadians identify over 180 languages as their mother tongues. In a recent quality-of-life ranking of 215 world cities by Mercer Human Resources Consulting, five Canadian cities ranked among the top 25.

Canada has the best overall quality of life among all of the G-20 countries for newcomers.

In Canada, 89% of adults aged 25-64 have completed upper secondary education, well above the OECD average of 75% as 88% of men have successfully completed high-school compared with 90% of women. Canada is a top-performing country in terms of the quality of its educational system. The average student scored 522 in reading literacy, maths and science in the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) tis score is higher than the OECD average of 497, making Canada one of the strongest OECD countries in students’ skills.

Life expectancy at birth in Canada is 82 years, two year higher than the OECD average of 80 years. Life expectancy for women is 84 years, compared with 79 for men. The level of atmospheric PM10 – tiny air pollutant particles small enough to enter and cause damage to the lungs – is 14.5 micrograms per cubic meter in large urban areas, considerably lower than the OECD average of 20.1 micrograms per cubic meter. Canada also does well in terms of water quality, as 91% of people say they are satisfied with the quality of their water, more than the OECD average of 81%.

In general, Canadians are more satisfied with their lives than the OECD average. When asked to rate their general satisfaction with life on a scale from 0 to 10, Canadians gave it a 7.3 grade, higher than the OECD average of 6.6.
