Medical & Health Administration (MHA)

Early Childcare Assistant (ECA)
The Medical and Health Administration (MHA) program provides students with the medical, technical and office
management skills that are in demand in medical offices, clinics and residential care facilities. The MHA
program balances important medical and health knowledge such as Medical Terminology, Medical Transcription and
OHIP Billing/Administration with the technical skills that are necessary for today’s medical and healthcare jobs.
These job titles include: Medical Office Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Clinic Assistant,
Medical Transcriptionist, Health Administrator Assistant, Front Office Manager and Patient Coordinator.
Gradates of the ECA program will be prepared to work in daycare centres, nurseries and early learning centres
assisting preschool teachers. The Early Childcare Assistant (ECA) program provides students with innovative
childhood education courses and practical experience based on current infant and childhood research and practice.
The ECA program focuses on early childhood development, curriculum development, health and safety and the
key communication skills needed to effectively work with children, parents and community members.
The Community Services Worker program prepares students to administer and implement a variety of social,
health and mental assistance programs. Courses include psychology, interview techniques, mental health and
addictions. The core skills include: report writing, team work, assessment, and counseling along with the
technical skills that are necessary for community organizations, health agencies and school boards.
ESL in Canada offers free initial counselling for professional career training, technical career training
and trade or vocational training programs.
